Negotiate and Influence for Success
You're at the negotiation table. You have all your strategies planned. Then 'the other party' comes up with the unexpected... Are you prepared for this? Have you a fall-back position? If not, why not? At our Win Win events you learn communication skills gleaned from the closely guarded world of hostage negotiation.
Day 1 – learn how to:
- plan and prepare like a hostage negotiator for that important conversation
- understand why widely-held communication ‘truths’ can undermine you
- get information without asking questions
- listen with heightened awareness
- know what to listen for
- interpret the true significance of what’s being said
- test your hypothesis without offending the other person
- exploit social and conversational conventions to maximise your influence
- deal with challenging people
- move to advanced level listening (tell your friends and family it’s impossible to sustain for long so you won’t be able to read their minds – it’s partly true!)
Day 2 – learn how to:
- amplify the power of your language
- prepare and rehearse killer opening lines
- avoid the 5 dumbest things you can say
- master the ABC of questioning techniques, from ‘alternative’, through ‘closed specific’ to ‘tag’
- employ a magic word to take the heat out of any negotiation
- position a course of action as desirable using an individual’s values and beliefs, rather than your own
- build and gain trust and rapport, individually and as a team
- put together a first class negotiation team, allocating key roles and responsibilities for optimum effectiveness.
